Motion Graphics

The introductory assignment to working in 3D in Adobe After Effects for my Graphic Design course. Due to not having too much other work to do, I ended up going above and beyond what was required for this assignment and am proud of the result.

For this project we were tasked with making a relatively simple animation explaining a process. The obvious example that first came to mind was a caterpillar's metamorphosis into a butterfly. Initially I thought it would be too overdone, but then a novel and visually interesting approach for it came to mind.

For my placement in my Graphic Design program, I ended up working with Victory Arts/Pop Arts to create a short educational animation aimed at children. I illustrated it in the style of a child's drawings to match, so it all looks like crayon and pencil on paper.

With the task of creating a looping GIF, I got thinking about examples of cycles that occur in real life. Something small-scale that resembled a GIF in real life was perpetual motion machines, including the marble machines that are sold as toys. This gave me the idea to create a loop within a loop using multiple identical objects.

Web Design

This project went hand in hand with our Graphic Design class for the semester, and in it we were to redesign the website which we redesigned the branding of in Graphic Design. I think the website turned out quite good and feature-rich given the time frame and that it was only me working on it.

For this project I wanted to show a bit of history of space exploration and opted to do it by showcasing different spacecraft, differentiated by both the time period they were launched and their distance from the Earth. i originally intended to have the rocket go upwards and the imagery move down as you scroll, but Webflow and the time I had limited what I could do and I had to find a compromise.

Graphic Design

A project where we were tasked to make multiple pieces for a local non-profit. I chose an organization that focuses on supporting Canadian veterans, who in recent years are not getting the assistance they desperately need.

The final assignment for my second semester of computer graphics, I used basic shapes with effects and gradients to create a poster that relatively simple, but effective in conveying the power of a black hole.

UI/UX

Our first project in UI/UX, learning how to put what we'd learned in Figma to full use. I found and chose a pizza website which was bad intentionally, but to the point it negatively harmed the usability. Balancing the style with usability made it an enjoyable challenge.

This project had us redesigning an app, and I didn’t have a whole lot of ideas as I generally use my computer more than my phone. The app I found to redesign was a bit of an odd one, but it was good material for a redesign and I think the final design improved the functionality quite a bit.

When designing my own app I decided to make it something I would personally use, and that I think would be beneficial to a lot of people. Taking what i learned from the app redesign project, I made an app that was highly functional, informative and helpful to every day people who need electronics for work or entertainment.
