Motion Graphics
The introductory assignment to working in 3D in Adobe After Effects for my Graphic Design course. Due to not having too much other work to do, I ended up going above and beyond what was required for this assignment and am proud of the result.
For our explainer video I opted to go for a somewhat unconvetional look, rather than flat and simplified vector art I wanted to do an illustrative style reminiscent of vintage art and scientific illustrations. While a bit cliche, the video explaining the process of metamorphosis fit this very nicely.
A relatively simple assignment where I was to do a short animated loop of a character “walking”. I decided to go a bit outside of the specified goal of the assignment and instead of walking, have a character moving on wheels, with a quick up & down motorized movement and bouncy body parts providing more visual flair.
Web Design
This project went hand in hand with our Graphic Design class for the semester, and in it we were to redesign the website which we redesigned the branding of in Graphic Design. I think the website turned out quite good and feature-rich given the time frame and that it was only me working on it.
For this project I wanted to show a bit of history of space exploration and opted to do it by showcasing different spacecraft, differentiated by both the time period they were launched and their distance from the Earth. i originally intended to have the rocket go upwards and the imagery move down as you scroll, but Webflow and the time I had limited what I could do and I had to find a compromise.
UI/UX
Our first project in UI/UX, learning how to put what we'd learned in Figma to full use. I found and chose a pizza website which was bad intentionally, but to the point it negatively harmed the usability. Balancing the style with usability made it an enjoyable challenge.
This project had us redesigning an app, and I didn’t have a whole lot of ideas as I generally use my computer more than my phone. The app I found to redesign was a bit of an odd one, but it was good material for a redesign and I think the final design improved the functionality quite a bit.
When designing my own app I decided to make it something I would personally use, and that I think would be beneficial to a lot of people. Taking what i learned from the app redesign project, I made an app that was highly functional, informative and helpful to every day people who need electronics for work or entertainment.
